The first Chamorro History Workshop in Balboa Park was a heartfelt and uplifting event.

The morning opened with a song by Chamorro cultural performers led by Rose Mantanona of the Imahen Taotao Tano group.

Pale' Eric Forbes shared a history of the island in relation to the wider world. His telling revealed the way that Guam and the Marianas were instrumental to the aspirations of larger countries throughout history and the ways that this impacted the islands. We thank Pale' Eric Forbes for sharing his invaluable research in his uniquely engaging style of presentation.

Guests were then invited to join visiting Guam artist, Dr. Judy Flores in the making of community art. Together with young cultural performers, Dr. Judy conceived a series of images for the three panel art. Over two hours everyone was able to participate and put their mark on this art piece, eventually to be donated to the House of Chamorros cottage.
